Co-founded and funded the robotics society at NU London, growing it from under five people to 40+ members across eight subteams in a single academic year.

Northeastern’s London campus had no robotics society. By the end of my first year, it had one with 40+ members across eight subteams.
Starting from under five people
We began with a handful of interested students and no budget, no space, and no institutional history to point at. As Treasurer I owned the funding side: making the case for a budget, securing it, and then spending it in a way that produced something visible enough to recruit the next wave of members.
That order matters. A new club’s hardest problem isn’t recruiting — it’s having something worth joining before you have the resources to build it. The fastest path we found was to get a small number of real projects moving and let those do the recruiting.
Eight subteams
Splitting into subteams was the structural decision that let the society scale past the size where everyone can be in one room. It gives new members a specific place to land — mechanical, electrical, software, and so on — rather than a general invitation to help.
Founding as a transferable skill
Building a technical organization from nothing is a different discipline from building a robot, and I’d argue the harder of the two. This was the second time I’d done it, after Lakeside Robotics — and the second time, I knew what to build first.
